The Ultimate Cheat Meal

On there, you would see that I have been doing a 12 week slim down program with Fit On (an app) and it’s been going good. I allow myself a cheat meal each week because life is short and should be enjoyed. We celebrated my boyfriends birthday a lil early with a few of our closest friends. We went to K Pot in Rockville, MD. This was my boyfriend and I’s second time here. We came here a year ago for our 1 year anniversary.

Be forewarned, they do not take reservations and with covid, tables are socially distanced and the wait may be longer. We had 7 people and we waited approximately an hour. I did notice the smaller tables were sat quicker, so that may determine your party size! 

With Covid, my first concern is always safety and the precautions restaurants are taking, there isn’t any outdoor seating here, however as I mentioned, the tables are socially distanced. They take everyones temperature before seating you, they have someone make your sauce for you, all the waiters/waitresses have full face shields and gloves, and they wipe all iPads before and after each table.

Let’s get to the food! Last time, we already knew the food was amazing, so we weren’t worried about that. However, we definitely felt that this place would be better in groups so you can all share food. With the two of us, it was just a lot for only the two of us. The way you order if via the iPad, which I prefer because I can be in control.

We opted to do hot pot and kbbq. The ultimate cheat meal. First off, my go to sauce is always peanut sauce, with a lil chili oil, and scallions/cilantro. For hot pot, I ordered tom yum broth, which is usually my go to if they have this option, but this place is the most flavorful that I’ve ever had. My faves are: k pot steak for the grill, har gao, shumai, shrimp, and various meatballs for hot pot, they also have popcorn chicken appetizer which is delicious!

The cherry on top was when we were waiting for our table, we noticed that they dress up in costumes for the birthday song! They can do either pikachu or a minion, which worked out perfectly because my boyfriend is a HUGE Pokemon fan! 

We had an amazing time, enjoyed really great food, our waitress was extremely friendly and accommodating making sure to check in on our consistently/changing our grill. The decor is also really beautiful. I will say one thing that sets them apart is that I noticed they even have hot pot burners/grills at the bar! Definitely a really great option that sets them apart from other joints.
