Cafe Dear Leon

I cannot believe it has taken me almost 7 months to get back to blogging. I guess it’s fitting as we near my 25th birthday, a milestone and a new chapter. Here’s to redefining our passions and doing the things we love! *Cheers*

In the last 6 months, I’ve found many new favorite spots including this one, Cafe Dear Leon in Baltimore, MD!

I had heard about this location from Yelp and friends, but never had the opportunity to make my way there. Thankfully, I finally had a free weekend to pop on over to the Canton area and check them out! Immediately when we parked, there was already a line, but it wasn’t until I walked out to see that the line was down the block! I had thought about turning back and going elsewhere, but a woman shouted “you want to get in that line, it’s worth the wait!!”. So, I decided to mosey on down and get in the line. During my wait, both the parties in front and behind me kept saying how the sando’s here are to die for so naturally I had get some to see what the hype was about!

Finally, it was my turn to go in and the store front is rather small, but it is stunning! Honestly, the cutest little shop I’ve seen in a while. They have this little coffee station to the left with their menu board and the exposed brick wall.

Fun tip: You can take home their coffee whole beans or they can grind it for you!

Sorry, for the glare on this image, but I try to be discreet whenever I take photos. This is the display for what they have during that day. I would look up their baking schedules on social media before you visit as they bake different items at different times. I went around 11AM on a Sunday and their menu also changes monthly. As you can see, they had two different types of tamago sandos (Japanese style egg sandwiches), a few different pastries (financier and cookies), and some toast type options.

Obviously, I had to get a sando to try and some other goodies as well. I ordered a regular tamago sando (left) , financiers (top), pecan chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookie (middle), and the heirloom tomato and ricotta cheese on focaccia.

The sando really did live up to the hype. Best tamago sando I’ve found yet in the Baltimore area. I currently am on a vegetarian diet, but I will be back to try the crab one! I also loved the heirloom tomato and ricotta cheese on focaccia. The focaccia was crispy, but soft and the flavors really melded together so well. I 100% would get that again and highly recommend it.

The financiers were an almond pastry, reminded me of a mini pound cake. They were super tasty as well. The cookies, I would probably pass on next time as I didn’t think they were as good as the other items.

Overall, I highly recommend y’all check out Cafe Dear Leon if you’re ever in the area or make the trip because it’s 1000% worth the wait!
