Tomo Asian Cuisine

Would you look at this spread?! I mean, yes please! Huge thank you to Tomo Asian Cuisine for having me come out back in December! Previously this spot was actually where Red Parrot was (if you’re familiar with that spot), though I had never been there, I was extra excited to check out Tomo. I loved learning that Tomo is a family owned business because those are my favorite, of course.

The interior of this place is absolutely stunning. It felt as if I was transported to Japan without leaving the area. It is filled with Japanese tea house style chairs and booths with a whole tea wall set up dividing the room and booths with the wall filled with little knick knacks.

Moving on to the main attraction – the food!

Appetizers

From the kitchen:

We started the night off with some chicken yakitori. Wildly enough, I’ve actually never had chicken yakitori (or at least not that I can recall). The yakitori was super delicious and fun! It came out with this perfect char that I imagine eating on the streets of Japan. The bell peppers also really complimented the chicken along with the sauce that wasn’t too salty!

One more close up because look at that glisten *insert heart eyes*.

From the sushi bar:

Next came the kani naruto which I was compelled to order because it sounded SO refreshing and I love crabstick. This was beyond refreshing and so, so tasty. I truly have never had anything quite like it. It’s so simple, but so worth it imo. The crabstick has a slight sweetness, but is also slightly salty, so the cucumber really cools it down and pairs perfectly with the sauce!

Sushi

American Eagle Roll

If you know me, you know that I could literally eat sushi all day, everyday. I think I’ve found my new spot. First of all, they really have their attention to detail locked down. I mean, look how gorgeous this plating is?! The edible flowers to the fried lotus chip and the wood piece? *chefs kiss* I am thoroughly impressed. But more than that, the sushi was fresh and not overbearing at all. Some places can really do too much and it’s super heavy or too much rice, but it is perfect here!

Bento Box

Salmon Teriyaki Bento

Y’all. If I didn’t win you over yet, this one is going to seal the deal, for sure. I mean, just look at that piece of salmon. Sheesh! This bento box is definitely the definition of bang for your buck. You get a huge piece of fish with rice, tempura veggies and shrimp, shumai, AND a California roll! That’s pretty sweet in my book. Not only is it a good deal, it’s so good. The salmon was flaky, moist, and the perfect amount of teriyaki. The tempura pieces were so crispy, I mean level 100 on the cronch test. The shumai and California rolls were equally as tasty was well. Couldn’t ask for anything more!

I am so grateful to have been invited in because I definitely found my new fave Asian spot. Not only do they offer Japanese cuisine, but the menu is expansive and has offerings from Thai and Chinese cuisines as well. I think this would be a great spot for date night, families, work events, and more! Definitely check it out!
